NCPSA & The International Taskforce on Child Protection

Two-day CIS International Taskforce on Child Protection workshops for both schools and universities to support the mental health and well-being of students from across cultures.

Universities:

Why should you attend?
We have designed this workshop to help you to protect and support your students. You will improve your ability to identify and prevent abuse, to strengthen student well-being and create a culture of consent, and to support a diverse student body as they arrive and strive to fit in.

Who should attend?
Professors, faculty, and staff working in academic affairs, admissions, alumni services, campus safety and security, dean of students’ office, diversity and equality, human resources, mental health and well-being, policy, safeguarding and student services.

You can expect to:

  • Learn how to strengthen the support that you provide to international students as they transition from school or another university, and how to balance your data protection and student well-being duties in this context
  • Gain insights into how your university or college can protect and support students from diverse cultures
  • Explore broader knowledge and guidance on student well-being issues, including how to create a culture of consent, how to co-design effective programs with your students and how to proactively identify students who are struggling at an early stage
  • Learn how to identify and prevent abuse by trusted professionals and other students in your university
  • Be equipped with knowledge and important information to take back and share with your colleagues to support the development of a whole-university approach to student well-being and embed a safer culture throughout your institution

You will learn how to improve your ability to identify and prevent abuse, strengthen student well-being and create a culture of consent, and support a diverse student body as they arrive and strive to fit in. This workshop will also provide you with the knowledge and skills that you need to strengthen your policies and practices in line with CIS International Accreditation Standards.

Who should attend?
School leaders, board members, and governors; administrators, curriculum coordinators; designated safeguarding leads and child protection officers; guidance and social/emotional counselors; HR professionals; medical, residential and pastoral staff; nurses; teachers.

You can expect to:

  • Learn how to strengthen the support that you provide international students as they move between schools or on to university, and how to balance your data protection and student well-being duties in this context
  • Gain insights that help you more effectively support the mental health of your students from diverse cultures
  • Learn about CIS Accreditation Standards related to safeguarding and student well-being, and receive guidance on how to strengthen your associated policies and practices
  • Explore broader knowledge and guidance on student well-being issues, including how to create a culture of consent, how to co-design effective programs with your students and how to proactively identify students who are struggling at an early stage
  • Learn how to identify and prevent abuse by trusted professionals and other students in your university
  • Be equipped with knowledge and important information to take back and share with your colleagues to support the development of a whole-school approach to student well-being and embed a safer culture throughout your institution

Registration is open to all faculty and staff, including Board Members/Governors at schools and universities, CIS affiliated consultants and supporting members.
